BFREE: Biocontrol of Fruits and Vegetables, coordinated by GreenUPorto/FCUP, was selected as the monthly highlight for dissemination by one of the main national institutions with the aim of promoting the development of the national fruit and vegetable supply chain.

GreenUPorto and its BFREE project were featured in the latest newsletter from COTHN (National Horticultural and Fruit Technology Center).

The BFREE project: Biocontrol of Fruits and Vegetables, coordinated by GreenUPorto/Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and Professor Susana Carvalho, was selected as a monthly highlight for dissemination by one of the leading national institutions to promote the development of the national horticultural and fruit field through applied research and a closer relationship between companies and research, as well as between public and private entities.

The overall objective of the BFREE project is to develop sustainable strategies for controlling fungal diseases in fruits and vegetables, in order to reduce the application of chemical fungicides and their impact on the environment and human health. The implementation approach focuses on the plant application of endophytic yeasts as plant defense inducers.
