SEXSEED: A planned strategy

The present project brings together 10 laboratories involved in studying different aspects and stages of sexual plant reproduction. Each partner group will use its expertise and technologies to address the same problem; to elucidate the network of regulatory genes controlling Arabidopsis reproduction, from ovule development until seed production. Each group is more familiar with one or two stages of this process, which is evident in the WP distribution. SEXSEED has a huge combination of experimental skills, from bioinformatics to genetics and epigenetics, from development to structure, from molecular biology to cell biology; all of these complementary procedures are being exploited for the final results and an excellent environment is being created for training young investigators.

The balanced combination of expertise together with the exchange of information and material makes SEXSEED consortium a hub of training excellence on the theme of plant reproduction. All the secondments are being prepared by the partners, and all visits generate a written report to the WP leader. The knowledge obtained in each visit will be in two directions and immediately available for the partners.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie proposals take appropriate measures to facilitate mobility and counteract gender-related barriers to it. Equal opportunities are given in this project to ensure no gender barriers, both at the level of supported seconded staff and that of decision making/supervision, with a female coordination and other as group leader.
