Twelfth General Assembly of the Wegener Project
"Integrated Modelling of Crustal Deformation"
WEGENER 2004

Tangier, Morocco September 21-23, 2004

The twelfth General Assembly of the Working group of European Geoscientists for the Establishment of Networks for Earth-science Research (WEGENER), organized jointly by the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), and the Abdelmalek Essaadi University (AEU), will be held on September 21-23, 2004 hosted by the Department of Geology, Faculty of Sciences and Techniques, AEU; and will take place in Tangier, Morocco.

WEGENER 2004 is intended to be a forum for the presentation and discussion of recent ideas from geodetic, geological and geophysical investigations on the following topics of interest to WEGENER:

  • Deformation of the Eurasian/African/Arabian collision zone;
  • Contribution of InSAR and airborne techniques to crustal deformation studies;
  • Reference Frame stability role for high precision positioning;
  • Integration of space and terrestrial techniques for monitoring crustal deformation;
  • Climatic and environmental impacts on observation of crustal deformation;
  • Sea-level variations and coastal processes;
  • Geosciences activities in Africa and Arabia.

Contributions addressing observational, technique-oriented and modeling studies are welcome. The meeting aims to bring together researchers with different background in the field of Geosciences to promote interdisciplinary research.
The meeting Program will include invited as well as contributed papers, on the state-of-the art on each topic, technical presentations and session discussions.
All researchers working on the above mentioned areas are cordially invited to participate in WEGENER 2004.
The local Organizing Committee is looking for the possibility to partially support young scientist or colleagues from North Africa.
