– To make known the concepts, the theoretical and practical framework and the essential tools for professional practice in the area of information visualization;
– Present an information visualization as an integral part of the reality of several organizations, providing them with professionals specialized in this area;
– Provide students with knowledge and a critical sense regarding the graphical statistical description of data;
– Make known the main biases and problems related to data quality, as well as strategies on how to deal with this problem;
– Equip students with skills to prepare data for visual and/or statistical analysis.

With communication a highly practical component, it hopes that students, in addition to improving scientific and technical skills, acquire a strong sense of using scientific and technical knowledge, such as their advanced work skills and their ability to work.

Informations

– Designers interested in acquiring skills that allow them to work on information visualization projects;
– Programmers, data analysts and scientists who want to complement their training with information design and information visualization resources;
– Journalists looking for skills to do journalism with data, with an interest in information design and information visualization as a communication tool and as a narrative process;
– Qualified staff from organizations responsible for data production and dissemination of statistical information;
– Professors and researchers in different fields;
– Professionals who have specific needs related to the visual communication of information;
– Technicians from companies, business associations, sectoral observatories, libraries, organizations, structures of higher education institutions, dissemination units of public institutes, etc.
– Any individual interested in learning to present data in an effective way, managing to attract the reader to the visualization of complex information.

It is important to draw attention to the interest of this training for all professionals, who in one way or another, within the scope of their duties, have to analyze or communicate information. In the current context, the importance that graphic communication assumes in the functions of professionals who interact with information is increasing, either through the knowledge of good practices in the presentation of information, or the mastery of visualization tools and the use of advanced methods of visualization to improve the analysis of data, which constitute very important added value in numerous areas and professional functions.
