Travel

The workshop will take place at Departamento de Física e Astronomia, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto.

By air:
Airport Francisco Sá Carneiro (OPO) has connections to most European destinations.

To travel between Porto airport and the town you have 2 options.
By metro:
There is a metro connection from the airport to the city centre. The closest stop to the conference venue (and hotels) is “Casa da Música”, (about 15 minutes walk). To use the metro system you have to buy a card called “Andante” in which you charge your tickets. To go from the Airport to “Casa da Música” you have to charge your andante with a Z4 trip, which costs 1,85 Euros. More information about the metro can be found in the metro web page.
By taxi:
Price around 20 Euros. A small tip of around 5 percent is appreciated but not essential.

By car:

CFP is located in the Physics and Astronomy Department’s Building of the Faculty of Sciences Campus. It is near the “Arrábida” bridge, where the “VCI” highway merges into the “A1” highway. You can find us in Google Maps.

If you come from Lisbon via the A1, you should go to “Arrábida” bridge and not “Freixo”. You should take the second exit, named “Bessa Leite”, after crossing “Arrábida” bridge.

After the exit, turn right and then right again. You will reach some traffic lights; take the left turn and you will be in “Rua do Campo Alegre” going in the direction of the Physics Department’s Building.

If you come by taxi, please tell the driver to go to “Faculdade de Ciências, Campo Alegre” (or to the “Planetário”, which is next to the Physics and Astronomy Department).

The bus stop that serves the Physics Department is called “Planetário”, where you can board lines 204, 200, 207, ZL. Visit the STCP webpage for fare and timetable informations.

The nearest subway stop is “Casa da Música” in Boavista. You can reach the Department walking (10 min.) or you can take bus route 204. Fare and timetables are available here.

Connection from Porto Airport and from Campanhã train station

Both the airport and the Campanhã train station are connected to the city metro. The closest stop to the conference site is Casa da Música (about 10-15 minute walk to the venue and Seminário de Vilar). To use the metro system you have to buy a card called Andante, which you can then charge. From Porto Airport to Casa da Música you have to charge your Andante with a Z4 trip for 1.85€, and from the Campanhã train station with a Z2 trip for 1.20€.
