Biographical data
Born in Lisbon, 1956, I graduated in Physics, scientific option, in University of Porto in 1978. From 1980 to 1983 I did my PhD in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics at Imperial College, University of London, supervised by David Sherrington. In the same year I completed the DIC (Diploma of Imperial College). From 1983 to 1985 I did a post-doc at Rutgers University, New Jersey, with Elihu Abrahams. I returned to University of Porto as Assistant Professor, where I have been ever since. I have been a visiting scholar at BU (Boston University) and NUS (National University of Singapore).
