Frequently Asked Questions

Currently, the master’s program is conducted in a face-to-face modality. In the first semester, classes are mostly held on Thursday and Friday afternoons, and on Fridays throughout the entire day. It should be noted that working students benefit from a flexible participation system in the course units, subject to prior coordination with each course teacher.

The Mestrado em Ensino e Divulgação das Ciências does not grant professional qualification to teach in basic or secondary education in Portugal. Because it is not a professional (initial teacher training) master’s degree, it does not provide the required professional teaching qualification. Instead, it is intended (among other potential candidates) for science teachers who already hold a professional teaching qualification and are seeking further academic training at the master’s (2nd cycle) level.
