Os res\u00edduos resultantes das atividades mineiras da explora\u00e7\u00e3o de carv\u00e3o, Sb-Au e W (N Portugal) depositados em escombreiras, representam uma fonte de polui\u00e7\u00e3o nos solos e aqu\u00edferos circundantes. A polui\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental ser\u00e1 avaliada para determinar as medidas de mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o para recuperar a sa\u00fade destes recursos. O impacto sociol\u00f3gico associado \u00e0 explora\u00e7\u00e3o dos recursos geol\u00f3gicos e a perce\u00e7\u00e3o dos riscos e perigos para a popula\u00e7\u00e3o ser\u00e3o abordados.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Neste enquadramento, pretende-se efetuar uma caracteriza\u00e7\u00e3o integrada dos res\u00edduos mineiros, dos solos e das \u00e1guas afetados por estas estruturas mineiras, para identificar os impactos ambientais, e contribuir para a sua mitiga\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s da avalia\u00e7\u00e3o da sa\u00fade dos solos e da \u00e1gua. Este estudo integrado, baseado em dados de metodologias avan\u00e7adas e t\u00e9cnicas petrogr\u00e1ficas, geoqu\u00edmicas, f\u00edsicas, geof\u00edsicas e ambientais permitem a avalia\u00e7\u00e3o das altera\u00e7\u00f5es que ocorrem nos materiais e solos residuais, fornecendo uma vis\u00e3o dos potenciais impactos ambientais. Por outro lado, os lixiviados destes rejeitados atingem os ecossistemas promovendo efeitos ecotoxicol\u00f3gicos nas esp\u00e9cies e plantas aqu\u00e1ticas onde os compostos biodispon\u00edveis representam stress significativo para estas esp\u00e9cies, assim como a toxicidade do solo afetando o crescimento das plantas, vis\u00edveis atrav\u00e9s dos seus par\u00e2metros morfol\u00f3gicos e da qualidade do p\u00f3len. O projeto inclui apenas a “RL1 – Soil health surrounding a former mining area: the case studies of coal, Sb-Au and W mines – A multidisciplinary approach to the effects of the mining activities on the health of the surrounding soils and waters”.<\/p>\r\n

The residues resulting from coal mining activities, Sb-Au and W (N Portugal) deposited in heaps, represent a source of pollution in the surrounding soils and aquifers. Environmental pollution will be assessed to determine mitigation measures to restore the health of these resources. The sociological impact associated with the exploration of geological resources and the perception of risks and dangers for the population will be addressed. Two main areas in Northern Portugal were selected where metallic and non-metallic mineral mines operated: (i) the Sb-Au mines ( mineralizations on the western flank of the Valongo Anticline) and W (Regoufe mining area); and, (ii) the Fojo heap, located near the Pej\u00e3o coal mine, which was under self-combustion in 2017. In this framework, it is intended to carry out an integrated characterization of mining waste, soil and water affected by these mining structures , to identify environmental impacts, and contribute to their mitigation by assessing the health of soils and water. This integrated study, based on data from advanced methodologies and petrographic, geochemical, physical, geophysical and environmental techniques, allows the assessment of changes that occur in materials and residual soils, providing a view of potential environmental impacts. On the other hand, the leachates from these rejects reach ecosystems promoting ecotoxicological effects on aquatic species and plants where bioavailable compounds represent significant stress for these species, as well as soil toxicity affecting plant growth, visible through their morphological parameters and pollen quality.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Objetivos<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Para identificar os efeitos da contamina\u00e7\u00e3o dos solos e dos aqu\u00edferos nas \u00e1reas envolventes \u00e0s escombreiras de minas de carv\u00e3o e Sb-Au e W, o projeto tem por objectivos:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    \r\n
  • Recolher e sistematizar informa\u00e7\u00e3o sobre o enquadramento geol\u00f3gico onde as escombreiras est\u00e3o depositadas;<\/li>\r\n
  • Identificar e quantificar metais pesados, oligoelementos ambientalmente sens\u00edveis, minerais magn\u00e9ticos e HAP nos solos, e nos aqu\u00edferos na \u00e1rea circundante das escombreiras atrav\u00e9s da integra\u00e7\u00e3o de dados petrogr\u00e1ficos, geoqu\u00edmicos, geof\u00edsicos e f\u00edsicos;<\/li>\r\n
  • Avaliar efeitos ecotoxicol\u00f3gicos dos compostos biodispon\u00edveis resultantes da mobiliza\u00e7\u00e3o pela \u00e1gua e pelo vento;<\/li>\r\n
  • Utilizar aplica\u00e7\u00f5es GIS na produ\u00e7\u00e3o da cartografia para: a) identificar distribui\u00e7\u00e3o espacial das \u00e1reas contaminadas; b) avaliar extens\u00e3o da polui\u00e7\u00e3o; e c) caracterizar os riscos ambientais e sanit\u00e1rios;<\/li>\r\n
  • Comparar a concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de poluentes nos solos e na \u00e1gua com valores da legisla\u00e7\u00e3o;<\/li>\r\n
  • Prever cen\u00e1rios evolutivos sobre os solos contaminados, \u00e1guas superficiais e subterr\u00e2neas;<\/li>\r\n
  • Promover uma cidadania ativa e informada atrav\u00e9s de a\u00e7\u00f5es de dissemina\u00e7\u00e3o dos resultados.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
