Research

Interests

My research interests are in: computational neuroscience; neural computation; neuroinformatics; neural engineering; mathematical/computational models in biology and medicine.

I am extremely interested in understanding information processing and information storage in biological systems. I am particularly interested in neuroscience problems involving plasticity in spiking networks (not limited to synaptic plasticity); neural computation; nociceptive information processing in the spinal cord. I am also very interested in neural engineering and hybrid systems where external electronic systems are merged with neural circuits to reveal, re-establish, or enhance, proper function. A key element in my research is mathematical modeling and computer simulations.
