From 2003 to 2007 I coordinated a project of with five Portuguese secondary schools, implementing materials and methods, intended to ease transition to University studies.The project was financed by a Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Calouste Gulbenkian<\/a>, and accompanied Physics teaching for few hundred students. Details of the project and the materials produced for this project (in Portuguese) are freely available in its website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This was a starting project in the PhD of Ana Rita Mota, who developed materials for teaching Physics in Middle School level (12-14 years old), and acomppanied teaching in classes of Escola B\u00e1sica e Secund\u00e1ria (EB-S) Jaime Magalh\u00e3es de Lima (Aveiro), EB23 D. Pedro IV (Mindelo) and EB23 Sobreira (Paredes). Throughout the project, Ana Rita worked with the class teachers, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Lopes, Alexandra Gurtner, and Nat\u00e1lia Brochado Silva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tese de Ana Rita Mota<\/strong>; Ensaio Pr\u00e1tico do Movimento Core Knowledge no Ensino da F\u00edsica em Portugal,<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n This project (2017-2021), financed by FCT<\/a>, joins teams in Universities of Minho and Porto in a theoretical and experimental study of non-linear optical response coefficients of layered materials, like the transition metal dichalcogenides, graphene bi-layers and multi-layers, and Van der Waals heterostructures. Some of these materials have shown one of the most desirable properties of non-linear optics: strong response over wide band of frequencies. The project focuses on developing theoretical and computational tools for a systematic study of 2D materials.
