In 1978 obtained a 1st degree in Nutrition at Porto University, folllowed by a PhD in Nutrition from King’s College London, London University (1989) with the thesis “Migration and changing food habits. A study of the Cape Verdeans in Portugal”. Participant, as national coordinator, of more than ten european research projects in the area of food consumption determinants. Supervisor of 15 doctoral students, sucessufullly completed (1998 to 2016). Currently supervises 3 PhD and 2 MSc students.
