Ninth International Workshop on Non-Crystalline Solids

The Department of Physics of the University of Porto will host the Ninth International Workshop on Non-Crystalline Solids, which will take place from the 27th to the 30th of April 2008. As in previous years, the workshop will focus on recent advances and emerging technologies in non-crystalline and nanostructured materials.
A group of invited speakers has been selected to lecture on recent progress in non-crystalline solids and nanostructured materials. We hope the workshop will provide an informal forum for discussion where participants can present and converse with other researchers in the field and related areas. We particularly encourage young researchers and students to present their work and engage in all the activities of the meeting.
The scientific program will consist of invited plenary lectures , contributed oral presentations , and contributions in poster sessions.  A special issue of the JOURNAL OF NON-CRYSTALLINE SOLIDS will publish the contributions of participants (impact factor: 1.433). A workshop timetable will be available shortly.
The workshop will take place in the city of Porto, events will be held in the Campo Alegre Theater and in the local Planetarium (click here for map).
A rich social programme is being prepared which will include visits to some of the characteristic sites of the city, which was European City of Culture in 2001.

The workshop will take place a week before the InterMag conference to be held in Madrid, Spain.

This meeting is endorsed by IUPAP .
